Professional Services Engineer II – SOAR & AI Automation in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Strong Market Position for SOAR/Automation Engineers. The $120K–$145K total earnings (salary + commission) is competitive for a Professional Services Engineer II role in the US, though slightly below top-tier SaaS companies for 5+ years of experience. The commission component adds upside but introduces income variability — worth clarifying the split ratio before accepting.
High-demand skills this role builds:
- SOAR/workflow automation platform expertise (transferable to Splunk SOAR, Palo Alto XSOAR, ServiceNow)
- API integration depth (OAuth2, JWT, REST) — increasingly essential across all of tech
- AI/LLM prompt engineering and applied automation design — one of the fastest-growing skill sets in 2024–2025
- Enterprise customer consultancy and trusted-advisor positioning
Culture & Growth Signals: Tines (founded 2018, Series C stage) is at a growth inflection point — large enough for process maturity but small enough that a PS Engineer II can genuinely "shape the future" of the organization. Cross-functional exposure to Product, Engineering, and Sales is a significant career accelerator.
Green flags: Vendor-agnostic platform means broad skill development; customer roster (Canva, McKesson) signals enterprise credibility; explicit encouragement of career changers suggests a growth mindset culture.
Watch for: The role is heavily customer-facing with live demos and tight project timelines — high-pressure delivery environments are common in PS roles. Confirm on-call expectations and project load before accepting.
