Meta Critical Facility Engineer - Career Growth Role in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This is a strong career opportunity for experienced facilities and data center technicians looking to work at one of the world's largest and most sophisticated data center operators. Meta's infrastructure scale means exposure to cutting-edge critical environment systems that very few companies can match.
Career development signals:
- The PQS (Personnel Qualification Standards) training program is a structured pathway to technical mastery — similar to military and nuclear industry qualification frameworks, it's a serious credential builder.
- The explicit requirement for AI tool integration skills is forward-looking and rare in facilities roles, signaling Meta is modernizing operations — a differentiating skill set for your resume.
- Exposure to electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, and life safety systems at hyperscale prepares you for senior facilities management or consulting roles.
Compensation context: While no salary is listed, Critical Facility Engineers at major hyperscalers (Meta, Google, AWS) typically earn $80,000–$130,000+ annually in the U.S., often with equity and strong benefits — well above industry average for comparable roles at smaller companies.
Watch for: Shift work including nights and holidays is a real work-life balance consideration. This is an operational, on-call role — not a standard 9-to-5. Those who thrive here tend to value technical depth over flexibility. Growth paths include Facilities Manager, Data Center Operations Manager, or Critical Environment Consultant.
