Career & Market Insight

Senior, High-Visibility Role: This is a senior individual contributor position at a global software leader — advising C-suite executives at some of Autodesk's largest AECO clients. The visibility and strategic scope make it a strong career move for experienced management consultants looking to transition into technology advisory or for AECO industry veterans seeking a consulting track.

Compensation vs. Market: The $69K–$101K base range for the Netherlands is below typical senior management consulting rates at Big 4 or boutique firms (€90K–€130K+). However, Autodesk's bonus, stock grants, and benefits package can close this gap meaningfully. Candidates with strong AECO backgrounds may find the total comp competitive, especially with equity upside.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Executive-level advisory and stakeholder management in a complex enterprise SaaS context
  • Transformation roadmapping and business case development for AECO digital workflows
  • AI and data strategy advisory — a highly marketable, fast-growing skill set
  • Cross-functional leadership without direct authority (influence-based leadership)

Green Flags: Autodesk is a well-established, mission-driven company with strong brand recognition. The role has genuine strategic depth — not just software sales support. The emphasis on "no hands-on implementation required" signals a true consulting-level engagement model.

Watch Points: The 50% travel requirement may affect work-life balance. The salary range is listed in USD for a Netherlands role, which introduces some currency ambiguity — clarify total package in EUR during negotiations. Dutch language skills are valued but not required, which is accessible for international candidates.

Autodesk Consulting is looking for a Business Consultant to join our Northern Europe team. This remote role is based in the Netherlands and supports strategic customers across the region.

This is a senior individual contributor role combining business consulting, AECO industry expertise, and executive advisory. You'll work with some of Autodesk's largest customers to shape transformation strategies, define target operating models, and develop business cases and roadmaps that deliver measurable business outcomes.

You'll advise senior leaders, structure complex business challenges, and lead strategic advisory engagements from discovery through executive decision-making. While you won't configure or implement solutions, you'll understand how Autodesk and complementary technologies fit within customers' broader business and technology ecosystems, partnering with technical specialists to turn strategy into actionable delivery plans.

Main Responsibilities

  • Understand customer objectives, challenges and operating context to define outcome-driven transformation strategies
  • Assess operating models, business processes, organizational capabilities, data and digital workflows to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Define target-state operating models, transformation roadmaps, business cases, success measures and benefits realization plans
  • Lead executive workshops, facilitate decision-making and align stakeholders across complex organizations
  • Advise customers on how Autodesk and complementary AECO technologies support business outcomes through effective workflows, data management and interoperability
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for data, automation and AI based on business value, organizational readiness, governance and adoption
  • Partner with Solution Architects, technical consultants and customer-facing teams to shape advisory engagements, validate strategic recommendations and develop credible delivery roadmaps

Minimum Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in AECO, management consulting or business transformation, with a proven track record of independently leading complex strategy and transformation engagements
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the following: construction, infrastructure, engineering consultancy, utilities, or a closely related project-based, asset-intensive industry
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk technologies or comparable AECO tool ecosystems, with the ability to discuss capabilities, workflow fit, data, interoperability and business value. Hands-on implementation expertise is not required
  • Strong understanding of operating models, organizational change, governance, business cases and benefits realization
  • Practical understanding of data-centric workflows, enterprise systems, automation, responsible AI and technology adoption
  • Ability to lead through influence across cross-functional and international teams, with excellent communication and executive presentation skills
  • Fluent English is required. Dutch and other European languages are highly valued
  • Willingness to travel to customer meetings and Autodesk events across Northern Europe (up to 50%)
  • Proven experience advising executives, structuring complex problems, facilitating high-stakes workshops and driving decisions
