Program Lead at Pearson - Grow in CX & Operations in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Role level and career positioning: Titled "Advanced Associate," this is a mid-level individual contributor role within a large enterprise customer service operation. It bridges frontline support and program management, making it a good stepping stone toward operations coordinator, program manager, or quality assurance roles.
Skills developed here are in solid demand:
- CRM and case management system proficiency (transferable across industries)
- Escalation management and Tier 2 technical support (valuable in SaaS and edtech)
- Cross-functional communication and stakeholder management
- Trend analysis and documentation — early exposure to data-informed operations
Compensation vs. market: At $20.75–$23.18/hour (~$43k–$48k/year), this is at or slightly below the US median for customer service team leads, which typically ranges from $45k–$55k. The annual bonus potential adds some upside, but this is not a high-compensation role.
Green flags: Pearson is a globally recognized brand, tuition reimbursement is a standout perk for career growth, and the role offers genuine cross-departmental visibility. The structured training program is helpful for those newer to program operations.
Watch-outs: Fixed shift windows and limited PTO flexibility during peak periods suggest a more rigid work environment. Growth into management may be slow in a large enterprise. The role may feel repetitive for candidates seeking high-autonomy or creative problem-solving work.
